So what's up with this

So, the Separate School Board is having an "information" session on January 16 regarding the three westside schools?  As far as I'm concerned my children have attended one of the best ones on this side.  I have never had issues with the school itself, but it seems that I'm in a minority.  I love this school dammit and I will fight until I can't fight anymore before I give up.  The schoolboard needs to realize that it's not what the parents want, it's what's in the best interest of the children.  We have let parents get away with too much say in this school and now it's too late.  It's time for the board to take back the school and set things right.  So many parents have taken  advantage of what St. Martha's has to offer that now we can't do anything at risk of offending the parents and that's BS.  I am so sick and tired of hearing how many less fortunate people there are in our school when most of them drive expensive vehicles and go on these huge vacations.  I'm tired of trying to explain how the other schools have a put up or shut up policy...basically if your child doesn't pay for something they don't get it (unless there is truly a financial burden, but that's for the administration to know, not the other parents).  I know our school has some families that have financial issues but I also know that there aren't so many that we can't charge them $1 for a lunch.   Take a step out there and start charging for the sports day ($1/child), open a canteen at sports day and let them buy what they want, charge a $1/child for the turkey dinner dammit...if they  can afford to buy  kids clothes from LuLu Lemon but can't afford $1 for the turkey dinner than they need to get their priorities straight.  I'm an equal opportunity person, I don't care about race, creed or colour, so if you aren't going to pay your fees then find another school.  If your kids a bad ass then they deserve to be punished and if that means being suspended or kicked out so be it...oh, and don't give me that whole spiel about what's going on at home, if the kid is getting into trouble they still need to be dealt with or the bullying situation just gets worse.  Oh yeah, and then there's parents pulling their kids out of school because they don't like a certain staff member, well I've got news for them, they''re not helping their kids.  There is going to be at least one BAD teacher everywhere they go, what are they going to do?  Move them everytime they get the bad apple?  That's teaching the kids a real lesson now isn't it?  What does that teach them when they get older...I don't like my boss so I'm going to quit.  I don't like my professor so I'm going to quit.  Grow up people.  Oh, I've got so much more to say, but I can't think straight right now.

Yes, I'm angry and do you want to know why?  When we bought our house here sixteen years ago, we bought it not just because of the huge backyard the quiet area but because we were so close to a very good elementary school.  The school was almost overflowing and now it's hardly even flowing.  I've talked to people who used to work and attend school over here and they loved the staff, the location, the families, and they can't understand what's happened either.  I want to know what's going to happen dammit because I'm not sure I want my kids to continue in a school system where we let parents decide what kind of education they WANT their kids to have instead of what kind of education their kids NEED.  I also don't want them in a system that screwed up royally in the past and who isn't willing to own up but is willing to hurt others by doing something stupid and irresponsible.

Okay, so now I'm done.  I have to go and wash clothes and clean before Christmas..
